ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A large fire broke out at St. Peterburg Catholic High School on Tuesday, prompting multiple agencies to respond.
Officials with St. Petersburg Fire Rescue described it as a “multiple alarm structure fire.” Smoke could be seen coming from the roof of the school’s gymnasium, where the blaze is believed to have started around 3:30 p.m.
Allison Munden, communications director for the Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg, said the school’s junior varsity volleyball team was practicing at the time, but was able to make it out of the building safely.
