The Cleveland region currently has two Level 1 trauma centers — one at MetroHealth and one at University Hospitals. The Cleveland Clinic wants to build a third. To do so, it doesn’t need the legislature’s blessing, but a group of 11 Democratic state lawmakers wrote a letter asking the Clinic to pump the brakes. They want to the Clinic to do more study and collaborate with the other hospital systems.
