Swimmer, 15, who drowned in Aurora quarry was local high schooler

AURORA, Ohio (WJW) — A 15-year-old boy who drowned while swimming in a quarry lake on Thursday, June 11, had been swimming with his friend that afternoon, according to Portage County emergency officials.

Aurora firefighters responded just after 4 p.m. to the quarry at 325 Treat Road, according to a Friday, June 12, update from Scott Simmons, commander of the Portage County Emergency Management Agency.
