Search continues for Ohio inmate who escaped in 1987; US Marshals offering reward

CLEVELAND (WJW) — U.S. Marshals are now offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to the arrest of a violent convict from Cuyahoga County who escaped an Ohio prison nearly 40 years ago and has never been found.

Gordon Eugene Lambert escaped from Orient Correctional Institution in Pickaway County on Aug. 24, 1987, according to a Friday, June 12, news release from Marshals. He had been serving a sentence for shooting at police officers during a robbery.

Lambert would now be 71 years old. An age progression sketch released by the Attorney General’s Office in 2018 shows what he might look like:

Lambert is described as a white man standing 5-foot-9, weighing 150 pounds and having brown hair — which has now likely turned gray — and blue eyes.

He reportedly has a tattoo of a woman riding a tiger on the inside of his right forearm. He also has tattoos of a peace sign and a skull with a needle elsewhere on his body.
