Nine men connected to Cleveland’s Blitz/G5 gang are facing criminal charges after an investigation that stretched back to 2018, with police and federal agents saying the probe intensified last summer following a string of East Side shootings. Eight of the men were arrested on various criminal charges, while a ninth was taken into custody on a parole violation this past Thursday.
Charges Span Attempted Murder to Weapons Offenses
Cleveland police and the FBI announced the charges against the nine men, who range in age from 18 to 23, according to Cleveland.com. The accused — identified as Darrell Young, Jeffery Andrews, Tahari Hammond, Joshawn Andrews, Mariontae Walker, Kevin Pugh, Marsean Wilson, Jawuan Andrews, and Darqwan Pritchett — face an array of charges including attempted murder, felonious assault, robbery, drug possession, participating in a criminal gang, and having weapons while under disability. WKYC additionally reported that suspects face charges of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or school, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, and obstructing official business, according to WKYC.
Eight of the nine men were indicted the week before the charges were announced and are scheduled to appear for arraignment Tuesday, per the same Cleveland.com report. Darqwan Pritchett, 23, was arrested in April and has been incarcerated at the Cuyahoga County Jail since then. Marsean Wilson, 18, was charged separately with carrying concealed weapons in Cleveland Municipal Court, and his case was bound over to the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. As of Friday evening, court records listed no attorneys for the accused.
Investigation Traces Back to 2018, Intensified After 2025 Shootings
The investigation into the Blitz/G5 gang began in 2018 but intensified in the summer of 2025, after detectives determined that a series of shootings in Cleveland that year involved individuals associated with the gang, the outlet’s report states. Officers subsequently executed multiple search and arrest warrants at locations throughout the city, recovering eight firearms in total — six during the initial operation and two more later that same day.
