Mom arrested after girl, 14, found in ’emaciated, skeletal state’

WEST VIRGINIA (WJW) – A West Virginia mother has been arrested in connection to the death of her 14-year-old daughter who was found “in a severely emaciated state.”

According to a post on the Boone County West Virginia Sheriff’s Facebook page , deputies responded to Cameo Road in Morrisville for a 14-year-old girl who was in cardiac arrest on Wednesday, April 17.

That is when deputies found the girl dead in the bathroom of the home.

“The child’s body was in a severely emaciated state, which prompted a death investigation,” the post said.

Julie Miller, 49 was then arrested and charged with child neglect resulting in death, according to the sheriff’s department .

During a Thursday, April 18 news conference , the sheriff’s department said the victim did attend public school at one point, but was believed to have been homeschooled in recent years.
