Loose Dog And Orange Pants Help Rocky River Cops Nab Oxford Court Burglary Suspect

A disabled car on I-90, a loose dog, and a laundry room full of telltale clothing helped Rocky River police track down a 35-year-old man accused of breaking into multiple apartments at the Oxford Court complex on Detroit Road, including one unit while the resident was home.

Police say the arrest capped a long day of work that pulled in multiple agencies and started with that stranded vehicle on I-90 westbound near the Detroit Road overpass. Officers impounded the car, followed up on reports from the nearby Oxford Court apartments, and eventually spotted two people walking from the interstate area toward the complex. By early evening on May 19, one of those individuals was in handcuffs.

In a Rocky River Police Department Facebook post, officers said patrol and detective units, assisted by the City of Westlake Police Department, tracked two people leaving the interstate area and ultimately arrested Charles Meek, 35. According to the post, Meek was charged with several counts of burglary tied to incidents in West Salem, and investigators expect to add felony charges for vandalism and theft as the case develops.
