Starting the drying and warming trend

(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Most areas will stay warm and dry Monday, but a few strong thunderstorms will develop across the Raton Mesa during the afternoon and evening.

The reason for the upcoming change is a northwest flow developing overhead. This flow will push drier air into the mountains and along the Interstate 25 corridor, limiting thunderstorm development for many areas. It will also help temperatures climb back to near seasonal averages after a relatively cooler end to the weekend.

For areas west of Interstate 25, expect a mix of sunshine and passing clouds throughout the day with only a slight chance for an isolated mountain shower or thunderstorm.
