Hot and dry pattern takes full shape

(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Southern Colorado will see another warm and mainly dry day Sunday as high pressure continues to strengthen over the Rockies and the western part of the country. While a few isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop over the mountains during the afternoon and evening, most communities along the Interstate 25 corridor and across the eastern plains are expected to stay dry.

For Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and much of the eastern plains, only a very small chance of an isolated storm exists near the Palmer Divide and Raton Mesa. Most locations east of the mountains will remain dry through the day.

Temperatures will continue a gradual warming trend, climbing a couple of degrees higher than Saturday. Afternoon highs will reach the 90s across the plains, though easterly winds will prevent temperatures from becoming excessively hot by limiting the usual downslope warming…
