A pedestrian struck on the Gervais Street bridge last weekend has succumbed to his injuries.
Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has identified the victim as Michael Derrick, 24, of Snellville, Ga.
The incident occurred last Sunday night, May 31, at around 7:45 p.m. Officers with the Columbia Police Department (CPD) found Derrick’s body below the bridge after he was thrown from the bridge in a collision in which a vehicle crossed several lanes of traffic and went into the sidewalk area on the other side of the road…
