COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Sunday and Monday are First Alert Weather Days for the likelihood of more storms, some strong to severe, along with periods of heavy rainfall.

First Alert Headlines:

  • First Alert Weather Days Sunday and Monday for storms and heavy rainfall.
  • Cooler than normal temperatures expected by the start of the new work week.

First Alert Summary:

While today will likely be another hot and humid one ahead of any storms that develop, it will not be quite as hot as in recent days. Feels-like temperatures may reach the upper 90s by early afternoon.

First Alert Weather Days are in place today and Monday for the threat of storms and heavy rainfall at times. The Storm Prediction Center currently outlooks the Midlands for the potential of some storms becoming strong to severe.

Similar to the past couple of days, the main threat with any storms that become severe today will be damaging wind gusts. Pea to quarter size hail is also possible.

Some minor or localized flooding is possible through today and Monday as some any storms that develop will be capable of a heavy downpour.

The front will slowly sink south of the Midlands late tonight. With more clouds and rain in addition to being on the north side of the front, temperatures will rise only into the 80s for a change early in the workweek.

The front eventually washes out but not before allowing for more widespread showers and storms on Monday and possibly into Tuesday.
