‘A slap in the face’: Mom demands answers after arrested special ed teacher hired at LR5 school

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) – A mother is speaking out after a Lexington Richland 5 (LR5) middle school posted on social media welcoming a teacher back to the classroom — a teacher who was arrested for assault last year.

Bethany Bryant said last year, Nursing Road Elementary School notified her that special education teacher Sharon Sweatt hit and inappropriately disciplined her autistic son. Two teacher aides first reported the allegations to school officials, saying Sweatt popped and slapped the student as a way to discipline him, according to reports.
