The first Slime Kitchen in the state of South Carolina welcomes locals and visitors to create their own slime, customizable in texture, color and scent, at Broadway at the Beach.
Business owners Michael and Maria Donavan said their children inspired them to open the California-based franchise in Myrtle Beach. Michael is a certified trained chef and, wanting to get back into business ownership, he was seeking to open a restaurant. Although he is still running a kitchen, the products are not edible.
“The reaction that we are getting from kids that come in here are like ‘Oh, my dreams have come true!’ and our dreams have come true as well,” Michael said. “It’s a family business. I love my family and I love working with the kids, my wife and we just have fun making kids dreams come true everyday.”
For $30, Slime Kitchen offers a 10-step do-it-yourself process to create your own slime. The first step is to choose a base out of six different options; ‘clear’ is transparent, ‘icy’ is frosty, ‘classic’ makes the best bubbles, ‘butter’ includes clay, ‘cloud’ is the most popular and ‘thick and glossy’ is the noisiest…
