RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Richland County authorities are warning residents about a scam document circulating across the state that falsely claims to be a court-ordered collection notice.
According to a media advisory, the sheriff’s department said the document is fake and is being sent to numerous people. Officials are urging the public not to scan any QR codes included or send money in response.
“This is an example of a fake document being sent to numerous people across the state today,” the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said. “RCSD wants the community to be aware of this scam and stress the importance of not scanning the QR code or paying any money to those sending out these documents.”…
