Reported vehicle collision in Richland County turns out to be homicide

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Investigators with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) are investigating a Sunday evening shooting incident that was initially reported as a vehicle collision with injury.

Around 10:20 p.m. April 19, RCSD deputies responded to the scene in the 3800 block of Humphrey Drive, off Shakespeare Road in Richland County. Arriving at the scene, deputies located a black colored Cadillac that had come to rest in the front yard of a residence after striking a tree.

According to the incident report, deputies found the car locked and a lone male occupant inside. As deputies attempted to break a window to enter the car and render aid, they noticed the rear passenger window was broken with a quarter-size hole and the glass around the hole was shattered…
