Suspect arrested for alleged role in fatal Kershaw County hit-and-run, SCHP says

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) – A suspect has been arrested for his alleged role in a Kershaw County hit-and-run that left one man dead.

Wayne Flippin, a 42-year-old Elgin resident, was arrested and charged on Monday with one charge of hit-and-run.

Kershaw County Coroner David West reported there was a 911 call at 1:26 a.m. April 9, saying that a man was found on the side of the road. The man was later identified as 29-year-old Elgin resident, Brandon James Butler.

Butler was reportedly traveling South toward Elgin on a 2022 Solana Moped along the 1200 block of Wildwood Lane near Palm Road. He was allegedly struck from behind by Flippin in an unknown vehicle also traveling south, and he fell into the road. Flippin then reportedly fled the scene…
