University of South Carolina School of Medicine named in honor of Pee Dee couple

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WBTW) — The University of South Carolina’s medical school was renamed Friday in honor of a Pee Dee couple who spent their lives boosting its reputation.

The Kay and C. Edward Floyd School of Medicine was unveiled at a private on-campus event attended by Gov. Henry McMaster and Coleman Floyd Buckhouse, a USC trustee.

“My parents loved this university with all their hearts. They believed deeply in improving lives and expanding opportunity,” she said in a video statement. “By naming the school medicine, we’re honoring their highest ideals and commitment to this university and the people of South Carolina.”…
