Travelers headed out of town for the July 4th holiday can expect light to heavy congestion on Georgia’s interstate highways, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced Thursday.
The DOT expects heavy traffic on I-75 through metro Atlanta, I-475 and I-75 in Central Georgia and I-16 and I-95 in Southeast Georgia. Traffic on I-185 and I-85 around Columbus is expected to be light.
To ease traffic congestion and increase safety, all interstate lane closures will be suspended between July 3 at 6 a.m. and July 6 at 6 a.m. However, emergency or incident-related lane closures may still occur…
