Some relief from the heat today, rain chances return by the end of the week

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Wednesday morning! We are starting the day on a warm and muggy note, with temperatures sitting in the upper 70s under partly cloudy skies. It definitely feels like summer as you step out the door, but there is finally some good news when it comes to the heat.

There are no Heat Advisories posted anywhere across the viewing area today. A stalled front stretched across the area is helping to take the edge off the extreme heat. Through the morning hours, expect more clouds than sun, which will provide a little extra relief. As we move into the afternoon, skies will gradually become brighter, with more sun than clouds developing later in the day.

Even with the slight break from the heat, it will still be a warm afternoon. High temperatures climb into the mid 90s, while heat index values peak near 100 degrees. While those numbers are lower than what we have experienced recently, it is still important to stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day…
