Several first responders respond to Lee County house fire amid raging heat

LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WRBL) — A Lee County house fire that took nearly five hours to put out and left one firefighter in need of treatment for a heat-related illness is shedding light on the extreme heat residents are experiencing across the Chattahoochee Valley.

According to Salem Volunteer Fire and Rescue, volunteers received a report of a structure fire in the 200 block of Lee Road 705.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the structure fully engulfed in flames. The following aid responded to the scene:

  • Beauregard Volunteer Fire Department
  • East Alabama EMS (provided medical aid)
  • Salem Volunteer Fire and Rescue
  • Smiths Station Fire Protection District
  • Lee County, Alabama Emergency Management Agency
  • Lee County Sheriff’s Office (assisted with Crowd and Traffic control)
