Ohio mother charged after malnourished 2-year-old found weighing 17 pounds: police

A 21-year-old Ohio woman has been arrested after her toddler was found severely malnourished and injured, with investigators saying the girl was left home alone overnight for months while her mother worked.

Naomi Holloway is facing a child endangerment charge following the discovery, according to jail records and a criminal complaint. Authorities say Holloway failed to provide adequate care and supervision for her daughter, who was 2 years old at the time and was taken to the hospital on Jan. 20 weighing just 17 pounds.

A probable cause affidavit states the child’s low weight resulted from being deprived of adequate food and water over a prolonged period.
