Ohio’s fertile ground and family farms keep 250 years of agriculture thriving

CANAL WINCHESTER, Ohio (WSYX) — For 250 years, farming has been a cornerstone of America’s foundation, and in Ohio, that legacy still runs deep.

Ohio has about 13 million acres of farmland, with 98% being family owned. “Well it was a very fertile area in the first place,” said David Trotter, who helps bring that history to life at Slate Run Living Historical Farm in Canal Winchester, where visitors can see what life on an Ohio farm looked like in the 1800s.
