Becoming cooler with several chances of rain

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Another hot one on this Independence Day with the mercury soaring above the 90° mark for the sixth straight day. Heat heat indices climbed near 100°. But we can finally start to exhale as cooler temperatures are headed our way. While it’ll still be quite muggy, daily highs will drop back into the mid 80s.

A frontal boundary now across northern Ohio will slowly slip southward into the Miami Valley Saturday night into Sunday. Once it arrives, it will stall over our area and stick around until Monday. We can expect numerous showers and thunderstorms to develop over the next couple of days, especially along the front. With heavy moisture content in the air, any of these showers or storms could produce heavy rainfall and could lead to localized flooding.
