CAPA has announced the 57th series of classic films and cult favorites coming to the Ohio Theatre this summer. The CAPA Summer Movies Series is the longest-running classic film series in America. This series starts June 18th and runs through August 16th. Twenty-eight films will be shown of the nine week period.

This year will pay tribute to Robert Redford and Rob Reiner, celebrate Mel Brooks’ 100th Birthday, include special film anniversaries, 13 series premiers, and include two free films under the Ohio Goes to the Movies banner.

The Ohio Goes to the Movies features are The Butler on Friday, June 19, starring Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, and John Cusack. The film is inspired by Columbus native Wil Haygood’s Washington Post article “A Butler Well Served by This Election.” The second film is Coal Miner’s Daughter on Wednesday July 22, starring Sissy Spacek, Tommy Lee Jones, and Beverly D’Angelo (born in Columbus, Ohio).
