Pickens County presents 103-year-old ‘Rosie the Riveter’ with high school diploma

PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. — If you ever needed a reminder that it’s never too late, a 103-year-old woman just earned her high school diploma after putting her education on hold to serve during World War II.

Pickens County School District recognized Jo Edna Niblett during the Pickens High School Class of 2026’s Military Enlistee Ceremony on Apr. 29. Niblett received her honorary diploma after over eight decades and was recognized for her sacrifice, resilience, and patriotism.

Niblett worked at Bell Aircraft in Marietta as a young woman during WWII, becoming one of the nation’s “Rosie the Riveters,” welding B-29 bombers and contributing to the war effort…
