A man from Gwinnett County was arrested on driving under the influence (DUI) charges Wednesday after authorities said he crashed his car and shut down an intersection near Flowery Branch for more than 10 hours.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened shortly after midnight Wednesday morning May 6, on Blackjack Road at the entrance to the Mitchell Creek neighborhood. It was a single-vehicle crash, with Juan Diaz-Hernandez, age 23 of Lawrenceville, driving a 2006 Honda Accord.
“Diaz-Hernandez failed to negotiate a curve. His vehicle left the roadway and struck guy wires supporting a utility pole, causing the pole to snap. The unsupported utility lines then pulled down another pole,” a statement from the sheriff’s office said.
Diaz-Hernandez suffered minor injuries in the crash. He was arrested on charges of DUI, an open container violation, reckless driving, driving while unlicensed and other traffic offenses…
