This morning turned tense in one of Highland Park’s busiest corridors after Dallas police reported an officer-involved shooting in the 4100 block of Mockingbird Lane. Police said an altercation between an officer and a suspect ended in gunfire, and both the suspect and the officer were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Investigators quickly shut down part of the scene and set up a media staging area at the northeast corner of Mockingbird Lane and Preston Road.

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers were involved in an altercation with a suspect that “led to the shooting.” The department identified the location as the 4100 block of Mockingbird Lane in Highland Park and confirmed that both the suspect and an officer were taken to hospitals for treatment.
