Dallas Area Rapid Transit is allocating up to $71.5 million to new bus shelters. According to a report in Metro Magazine, DART partnered with Tolar Manufacturing on the contract, which will replace bus stops across the city with new structures designed to withstand the harsh central Texas climate.
The shelters will feature solar-powered LED lighting and real-time arrival information. “Both systems are connected to a remote monitoring platform that provides DART operations staff with continuous, network-wide visibility and automatically alerts the agency when a display or solar component needs attention, so technicians can be dispatched quickly and efficiently before service gaps reach the rider.”…
