TIPP CITY, Ohio (WDTN) – The Tipp City Police Department is warning the public about a recent scam involving fake invoices that appear to come from the City of Tipp City and reference the Board of Zoning Appeals.
While the documents may appear official, recipients should not make payments or provide personal information without first verifying the request directly with the city.
If you receive an unexpected invoice:
- Don’t send payment until you have verified it.
- Contact the city directly using publicly listed phone numbers or email addresses.
- Be wary of requests for immediate payment or unusual payment methods, such as through Bitcoin.
- Never share personal or financial information in response to a suspicious notice.
