A 26-year-old firefighter died when a firetruck crashed in north-central Georgia last week.

The tragedy occurred on Friday, June 12, when a Rockdale County Fire Rescue apparatus was involved in a “rollover accident” at the intersection of Sigman Road and Eastview Road in Conyers, the Rockdale County Government said in a statement.

That evening, the victim was riding inside a firetruck that was responding to a structural fire in the area when it overturned as the driver made a left turn, the Georgia State Patrol confirmed to Fox affiliate WAGA.
