A call about a possible drowning in a pond turned out to be something far different Sunday afternoon in Clayton County, where firefighters instead found a man 20 to 25 feet down a steep ravine following a motorcycle crash. Crews used ladders and rope rigging to haul him back up to the roadway before paramedics rushed him to a Level I trauma center for evaluation.
Dispatchers received the call reporting a possible drowning in a pond near the 1000 block of Lake Regency Drive at 1:17 p.m. Sunday, and Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services units arrived just five minutes later, according to WSB-TV. Once on scene, law enforcement determined there was no drowning at all. Instead, they found a man roughly 20 to 25 feet down in a ravine or drainage ditch, and officials believed he had ended up there after crashing his motorcycle.
