JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) – Several Jefferson County and Clear Creek County officials, along with the National Forest Service, took FOX31 on a behind-the-scenes look at current wildfire mitigation and watershed protection projects happening in both counties.

“The key is we don’t want fires to happen, so by taking action to get rid of some of the trees, it worked for us,” Terry Haury, who lives on property in Conifer, said. “It was huge.”
Haury said several years ago that he, along with his neighbors, were asked to take out 60% to 70% of their trees, something which didn’t go over great with everyone.
