After falling short of a commitment to provide affordable housing in Wheat Ridge, the city will look for assistance from other Jefferson County cities to meet its goal.
Proposition 123 was a ballot measure passed by Colorado voters in 2022, which created a State Affordable Housing Fund that cities can use, provided they meet their commitment for available units. In 2023, Wheat Ridge’s City Council approved a resolution in which the city committed to increasing its supply of affordable housing by 3% each year for the 2024-2026 funding cycle.
