Savages Stopped In Two at Osky Tourney Saturday

The Sigourney softball team spent Saturday at the Indian Softball Classic in Oskaloosa. The Savages dropped a matchup with Norwalk 10-0. Warrior pitchers Leah Crick and Allie Williams kept the Savages off the scoreboard, out of the hit column and off the bases, spinning a four inning combined, shortened, perfect game in the circle against the Savages, including eight strikeouts. Norwalk ended the game early with five runs in the first, two in the second and three in the third. Molly Harper finished a homer shy of the cycle with five RBI. Emerie McCulley pitched for Sigourney with three frames, nine hits, eight earned runs, four walks and a pair of strikeouts.

Game two was a 9-1 loss to Collins-Maxwell. The Spartans built a 9-0 lead scoring twice in the first, three times in the second and fifth and once in the fourth. The Savages got their run in the fifth. Jayden Peters tossed the second straight no-hitter against the Savages, working five frames of the shortened contest with three walks and four strikeouts. Cypress Erickson, Haylee Merryman and Peters each drove in a pair for the Spartans. Monroe Hammes had a walk and a run to lead the Savage offense, Naveah Beinhart worked four and a third in the circle with 11 hits, seven earned runs a pair of walks and three strikeouts…
