The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is urging motorists to obey posted speed limits amid changes in Iowa.
Senate File 378 raises the default speed limit on many rural two-lane paved roads from 55 to 60 miles per hour. However, officials say drivers should not assume every road previously posted at 55 miles per hour will automatically increase to the new limit.
The Iowa Department of Transportation began updating approximately 1,800 speed limit signs on state highways on July 1st, while counties are responsible for changing signs on county roads.
