Soggy conditions lead central Iowa school district to alter bus routes

MARTENSDALE, Iowa — Soggy conditions have led a central Iowa school district to alter its transportation plans.

For several days straight, central Iowa has received several inches of rain, prompting various flood warnings.

The Martensdale-St. Marys Community School District announced in a Facebook post that buses will only travel on hard roads for both morning and afternoon routes for the rest of the week. According to the district’s website, the Hard Surfaces Only Bus Routes are implemented during inclement weather, soft, muddy or unsafe gravel/rural roads to ensure bus drivers and students get to and from school safely.
