Police probe death after apparent plunge at downtown Detroit high-rise

Police were investigating the death of a woman on June 17 after an apparent plunge from a downtown Detroit high-rise on Washington Boulevard near Grand River Avenue.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday, the sidewalk on the Washington Boulevard side of the Washington Park Apartments was taped off, with what appeared to be a body covered in a white sheet near the entrance to the building’s parking structure beneath the apartments.

Police outside the building declined comment to a Detroit Free Press reporter, citing an active investigation. Department spokesperson Jasmin Barmore said police learned of the incident from a citizen who called 911 saying they saw the woman on the ground suffering from heavy trauma.
