Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has spent the better part of a week behind bars in Hillsborough County, Florida. The 23-year-old turned himself in last Wednesday after a four-month investigation tied to a February incident in Tampa. Now, the June 29 hearing will determine just how much longer that stretch behind bars could last, with prosecutors and defense attorneys set to clash over his immediate future.
Terrion Arnold Pretrial Detention Hearing Looms in Tampa
The pretrial detention hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday in Hillsborough County, where prosecutors will argue Arnold should remain jailed without bond through trial. The Detroit Lions cornerback faces three counts of kidnapping, three counts of armed robbery, and one conspiracy count each for kidnapping and armed robbery, charges carrying a potential life sentence.
Prosecutors allege Arnold coordinated and directed an attack on three men he believed had stolen roughly $200,000 worth of property, including cash, jewelry and designer goods, from an Airbnb he rented in Largo. Investigators say there is no evidence the three alleged victims were involved in that theft.
Court documents describe a February 4 ambush in which two associates, Lyndell Hudson and Christion Williams, held the men at gunpoint and pistol-whipped them while Arnold allegedly watched via livestream and issued instructions through a group chat.
Two codefendants already pleaded guilty in the case, with one sentenced to four years in prison plus six years of probation. Arnold’s attorney has pushed back on the state’s reliance on testimony from cooperating codefendants, calling for additional disclosure ahead of Monday’s hearing.
