A recent black bear sighting in the Detroit suburbs has sparked conversation across Southern Michigan, reminding residents that the rural landscape of the region would make a prime habitat for the wandering predators.
While the Detroit sightings occurred in a densely populated area, wildlife experts note that the mix of dense woodlots and rolling farmland in Hillsdale, Branch & Lenawee Counties is much more suitable for bears.
