On Oct 8, Granville County will hold the first of three public input meetings to gather community perspectives on what should be done with the former G.C. Hawley Middle school site. The county’s plan is to create a recreational or athletic space, but the exact specifics will be based on comments and input from the meetings.
“We really want input from the community down in the southern part of the county to kind of provide some input on what they’d like to see, whether it’s pickleball or baseball, softball fields or whatever,” Granville County Development Services Director Scott Phillips said.
The site is about 27 acres of open space — since the former middle school building was torn down — and is located at 2173 Brassfield Road in Creedmoor. Phillips said the county is open to a wide variety of ideas from the public, with consideration of budget constraints…
