MEBANE, N.C. (WGHP) — Kids are excited to dress up and go door to door to trick or treat. Unfortunately, for a Mebane family, their spooky night started early.
Black cats and leaning unicorns sound about right for Halloween, but Melissa Graham says inflatables she placed in her front yard off Edinborough Drive in Mebane are typically more lively.
Now, they’re patched up with tape after she says vandals poked holes in them on Oct. 14.
“The first time caught us completely by surprise … He [her husband] went out here to see what was going on. They come on every evening around sundown, and he said they were full of holes,” Graham said.
Graham and her husband patched them up and moved on. This past Sunday, the vandals came back,
“I cried … because they bring me joy … Right now, I didn’t have a lot of joy going on,” Graham said.
In total, Graham says the property damage is close to $500.
“A lot of them are close to $100. I’m going to say $99. The unicorn cost $150,” Graham said.
Graham filed a police report with the Mebane Police Department, and even they think the case is peculiar.
