Oklahoma has been surrounded by Buc-ee’s states for years, but the Sooner State still does not have one of its own. That could eventually change as Buc-ee’s keeps pushing into new territory, but the latest update is more “maybe” than “moving dirt” — even as the chain continues adding states to its national growth list.
The most recent serious update came from Oklahoma City.
News 9 first reported in February that city officials had confirmed preliminary exploratory discussions with Buc-ee’s, with The Oklahoman following up with more detailed reporting. Kenton Tsoodle, President and CEO of the Alliance for Economic Development of Oklahoma City, said the group had preliminary discussions with the company and is “actively looking at multiple locations” for a potential site, but no decisions have been made. A Buc-ee’s media representative did not comment on the possibility of an Oklahoma store.
The rumored site is at I-40 and Cimarron Road, between El Reno and Yukon, just west of Oklahoma City.
