Payne County group seeks grand jury investigation into former district attorney
STILLWATER, Okla. – A Payne County community group has filed a petition seeking to impanel a grand jury to investigate former District 9 District Attorney Laura Thomas over allegations involving the handling of child abuse cases and the treatment of children and families within the county’s justice system. District 9 covers Payne and Logan Counties.
The petition, filed by members of Parents for Payne County, alleges Thomas abused her authority, failed to investigate crimes against children, suppressed evidence and obstructed investigations.
