OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) announced on Wednesday it has begun notifying SoonerCare (Medicaid) members who may be affected by new federal work requirements taking effect January 1, 2027.
SoonerCare members who receive a yellow letter from OHCA are asked to read it and follow the instructions to avoid a disruption in coverage. The requirement comes on the heels of a new federal law and applies to adults ages 19-64 who are not otherwise exempt.
OHCA says members will need to complete 80 hours per month or demonstrate a minimum monthly income. Hours to be considered qualified can be earned through employment, community service, work programs, or education programs.
