The US’s tallest tower could be built in unlikely city under proposal

NEW YORK ( WPIX ) – Plans are in motion to build a new tallest skyscraper in the United States, potentially taking the title away from One World Trade Center in New York City.

The lower Manhattan tower has stood as the tallest building in the U.S. since opening in 2014. At 1,776 feet, it also ranks among the tallest buildings in the world.

That could change, however.

A California-based developer has been working with the Alliance for Economic Development of OKC to develop lower Bricktown, an Oklahoma City neighborhood. As of December, the plan included a 22-story hotel, two 23-level residential towers, and restaurants and shops, Nexstar’s KFOR reports .

The city council has already approved an incentive package for the proposal, which is contingent on at least $500 million worth of development being built, Kenton Tsoodle, CEO & President of the Alliance for Economic Development of OKC, told KFOR in December.
