OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA (KOKH) — The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden has released alligator snapping turtles that were temporarily taken in at the zoo’s Underground habitat.

Alligator snapping turtles are classified as a Tier-1 species by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. These turtles have become a vulnerable species due to habitat loss in Oklahoma rivers.
