Rory McIlroy showcased an eye-catching $268,000 timepiece as he celebrated his historic back-to-back Masters Tournament victory on Sunday.
The 36-year-old Northern Irish golfer delivered a remarkable performance at Augusta National, finishing just one stroke ahead of world number one Scottie Scheffler. With rounds of 67, 65, 73, and 71, McIlroy earned the coveted Green Jacket for the second consecutive year, becoming only the fourth player ever to achieve this feat.
During the trophy presentation, McIlroy shared a surprising tidbit: his parents almost missed witnessing his historic win in person due to superstitions after watching his previous Masters victory from home.
While much of the post-win attention centered on McIlroy’s comments-one of which had his daughter Poppy playfully covering her face-fans also couldn’t help but notice the luxury watch adorning his wrist.
Known for his passion for fine watches, McIlroy sported a rare and exquisite Omega De Ville Tourbillon, valued at over a quarter of a million dollars. As an Omega ambassador since 2013, he often has access to exclusive timepieces, and this latest addition was no exception.
Crafted in 18K Sedna gold and paired with a black leather strap, the De Ville Tourbillon boasts a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal dial and gold-finished indexes, offering a stunning view of its intricate mechanics. The watch features Omega’s first manual-winding central tourbillon, powered by the Co-Axial caliber 2640, and is Master Chronometer certified.
Interestingly, McIlroy revealed that this was not a new acquisition for the occasion. He purchased the watch in 2019 as a personal reward after winning his second FedEx Cup.
“This is an Omega De Ville Tourbillon. There haven’t been many made.
It was a gift to myself after I won my second FedEx Cup in 2019,” McIlroy told ESPN’s Gary Striewski. “Omega are a sponsor of mine, so I’d had my eye on this watch for a while, but I just wanted to treat myself after a win.”
Last year, McIlroy wore another special Omega piece: the Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary edition. This watch pays tribute to the NASA award Omega received in 1970 and features the beloved ‘Peanuts’ character Snoopy on the dial, with a rocket orbiting on the caseback. It draws inspiration from the iconic chronograph style famously worn on the moon.
With his superb play on the course and a stunning luxury watch on his wrist, Rory McIlroy’s Masters celebration was truly one for the books.
