BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Governor Kelly Armstrong has been appointed as chairman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC) for their meeting next year in Oklahoma City.
The IOGCC is a multi-state agency that meets every year to discuss oil and natural gas conservation and recovery.

Armstrong’s one-year term begins October 28. He succeeds Alaska governor Mike Dunleavy, and follows in the footsteps of several former North Dakota governors, including Doug Burgum and John Hoeven.
The IOGCC was formed in 1935, and North Dakota became a member in 1954. The commission helps states develop regulations for the oil industry and gives them a forum to communicate with the federal government.
