EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The University of Texas at El Paso has broken ground for its new $102 million state-of-the-art housing complex on Thursday, May 28.
The 155,500-square-foot facility, named Miner Crossing, will be a five-story residence and add over 500 beds in single and double dorm rooms. The university anticipates construction to take about two years, and the dorms will be available for students in the Fall 2028 semester.
“This will be a traditional freshman dorm with an integrated dining hall at a reasonable price for our students and their families,” UTEP President Heather Wilson said. “With more and more students applying to UTEP from beyond West Texas, we need to expand our on-campus housing.”
Miner Crossing will also feature a new 22,000-square-foot dining room, which can accommodate 400 guests and will serve over 1,400 meals daily. The dining room will be equipped with a full kitchen, bakery, an allergen-free zone, pizza oven and office spaces for staff…
