Weather Authority Alert: Storms with very heavy rain, possible flooding

KTSM has issued a Weather Authority Alert due to the potential for strong thundershowers and the potential for very heavy rain out of some storms. Here’s the radar snapshot from earlier today. Red indicates rain rates of over one inch per hour. A Flood Advisory was posted until 6:15 PM.

TONIGHT:  The skies will be partly to mostly cloudy.  Expect a chance of isolated showers and t-showers until mid-evening.  Some individual cells may produce brief, heavy rain. Overnight, the skies will be fair with just a few clouds.  The SE winds will range from 5-15 mph, and the low will drop to 71.

FORECAST:  Friday will be partly cloudy with scattered showers and t-showers.  The muggy feel will be high with plenty of moisture for storms. Friday’s high: 93.  Some storms on Friday may become strong with brief, heavy rain.  Saturday will be partly to mostly cloudy with widely scattered showers and t-showers.  Some storms may produce heavy rainfall and cause localized flooding.  Saturday’s high: 94.  Sunday will be partly cloudy and 94 with scattered late day t-showers.  Brief, heavy rain out of some cells will be possible. Though we will have a chance of isolated showers here and there on Monday, you’ll notice a transition away from high humidity to a drier pattern for the week ahead.  Monday will be partly cloudy and 97 with a chance of isolated showers.  Tuesday will be partly cloudy and 99.  Wednesday will be sunny and 101.
